 FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

  • How can I receive more information and sign-up?
Provide your contact information in the "Contact Us" section to receive more information. We will respond with more details about C & V Music and help you schedule a free consultation.
  • What is the difference between in-studio lessons and virtual lessons?
Virtual lessons offer students the ability to take music lessons in the convenience of their home. Some students prefer learning in a familiar environment. Virtual lessons have expanded immensely in 2020. Virtual lessons require students to have limited technology literacy to interact with the instructor. No worries, C & V Music's instructors will help guide students. Studio lessons offers students the ability to learn concepts with multiple hands-on percussion instruments, in addition to their primary instrument. Some students prefer an instructor to be physically present. Both lessons provide a strong foundation in music theory and performance. During the consultation period, we will help future students find the best fit.
  • Does C & V Music offer music lessons in the student's home.
Beginning in June 2022, C & V Music will provide in-home lessons. Call to find out more about our lessons in the home. We offer face-to-face music instruction at three locations, including: Downtown Orlando, Altamonte Springs and the Millenia area of Orlando.
  • Which instruments do you teach?
C & V Music currently offers piano, drum, flute, xylophone, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, voice and recorder lessons. We will be expanding our instrument selection with violin and saxophone in the near future.
  • I do not know anything about music. Do you really think I can learn?
Of course you can! Learning music takes time and effort. If you can bring those two, the instructor will help. First, we want to know your strengths outside of music. We will use your strengths and creativity to help you learn.
  • Am I making a lifelong committment?
With anything, learning is lifelong. Instructors at C & V Music continue to challenge themselves to learn new concepts and stay abreast with the current musical trends. With that being said, we want you to create student-centered goals. Music lessons may be lifelong or a season for you. Some students want a foundation in music education and continue to self-learn, whereas other students prefer long-term lessons. We will learn, respect, and evaluate your goals along the way to help you with your music education.
  • Is my child too young to learn?
Ask your child the following question: "Which letter comes BEFORE the "letter G" in the alphabet? If your child answers the "letter F," they are ready for our standard lesson. If your child is not able to correctly answer the question above, C & V Music offers a specialized, creative prerequisite course for your child to take while learning music concepts.
  • Do I need to purchase an instrument right away?
The focus points of C & V Music lessons are music theory and music performance. The sooner you have your instrument, the sooner you can practice. Depending on the level that you start, your instructor will help you decide the level of instrument you will need. For example, you likely will not need to buy a grand piano tomorrow. There are affordable instruments that can take you more than a year. C & V Music instructors are more than happy to assist you with acquiring a music instrument that fits within your budget and meet your needs.
  • What type of music books do I need?
An advantage of starting with C & V Music is receiving customized free course material for the first 1-2 months. We believe that the first 1-2 months is a vital period in embarking on your musical journey. Your instructor will give you ample notice of which books to purchase. By the end of the first 1-2 months, your instructor will have identified the types of books needed for your learning style. As mentioned before, even with purchasing a book, we continue to provide a unique curriculum for each student. ***Instructional materials are provided for most group courses.
  • What if music just isn’t for me?
Let’s be realistic, everyone isn’t going to love music. I know some are thinking, why not? C & V Music not only views music as an enjoyment or well needed additive to life, we believe that music theory and performance are vital skills in life that will help you succeed in areas outside of music. Sports isn’t fun for most, but the activity sure helps with cardiovascular health. Cooking may not be the most enjoyable for some; however, survival skills are needed. Mathematics isn't everyone best friend; although, it sure is important to know how to count money. Music theory strengthens vocabulary, mathematical, and reading skills. Music performance can decrease stress, promote a calming environment, and strengthen confidence. C & V Music believes music is truly beneficial.
  • What if my preferred time slot is not available?
If your preferred time slot is not available, C & V Music will work with you to find a day and time that will accommodate you. Openings that become available are offered to students currently enrolled in classes first.
  • What is the difference between group lessons and group courses?
Group lessons are similar to private lessons; however, 2-3 students can take lessons together. Benefits of group lessons are learning music theory and performance with a friend or family member and reducing the cost. A specialized curriculum is created for the "mini group." Each student progresses together. Group courses are pre-scheduled and focus on a specific music topic. Group courses allow up to six attendees in each course. The duration of each course is typically 4-8 weeks. After the completion of a course, individuals can sign-up for another course, if they chose. Group course topics range from instrument families to rhythm notes and have a vast amount of interactive activities and creative projects.
